Embedded Software Developer

Pixelink is a leader in the design, manufacture and support of digital cameras for industrial, microscopy, medical and scientific applications. We are looking for a dynamic Embedded Software (Firmware) Developer to join our R&D team.

The Developer will be responsible for the design, enhancement, debug and maintenance of the camera firmware for existing and upcoming digital cameras, and camera-centric devices. You will be using your embedded systems development skills to work with the latest computer vision technologies; including advanced imaging sensors and image processing algorithms. You must be very comfortable working directly with system hardware, including FPGAs and other ICs, as well as with host driver development and simulated hardware environments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modify existing camera firmware to add feature enhancements and support for new imaging technologies
  • Design, develop, and debug firmware for new camera projects
  • Write driver and low-level host software applications intended to exercise, calibrate, and test cameras
  • Work with established vision/device communication protocols used by the camera to interact with host devices and applications
  • Work with other development team members to create innovative imaging solutions needed in the fast-growing computer vision field
  • Review product requirements to give development estimates and product feedback
  • Innovative technical design and thorough, demonstrable unit testing
  • Provide technical documentation that shares knowledge effectively
  • Work with all team members to develop, test and release new products to the market


  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years embedded software/driver development experience
  • Expert level proficiency with the C programming language
  • Experience working with at least one RTOS (and be very familiar with how it works)
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, take initiative and work independently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and follow through on a project plan
  • Adaptable to changing business environment
